But so often people pursue this future in a way that's disconnected from their now. They have a grand, almost utopian, vision of how the world could be. People will start businesses, write books, and build movements to bring about the change they wish to see. All the while being disconnected from how they could live from their vision. People focus on fixing society in an abstract sense while completely neglecting the social fabric around them. If you want to make the world a better place, it's okay to have a vision of a possible future. But don't let its beauty blind you from all the ways you could begin seeding that world in the lives of those around you today. Notice the people who flow in and out of your experience. Who could use some extra kindness? Who needs a call or text? What's something you could do that would be extraordinarily helpful that could restore someone's faith in humanity? Strands of the future we wish to inhabit can be woven today if we properly attend to the social fabric around us. ð¤ A Certain Number of Times Enjoy this timeless reminder from Paul Bowles: âBecause we don't know when we will die, we get to think of life as an inexhaustible well. Yet everything happens only a certain number of times, and a very small number really. How many more times will you remember a certain afternoon of your childhood, an afternoon that is so deeply a part of your being that you can't even conceive of your life without it? Perhaps four, five times more, perhaps not even that. How many more times will you watch the full moon rise? Perhaps 20. And yet it all seems limitless.â ð¤ Learn This Words Metacosm: 1. A system that encompasses cosmos systems (macrocosm, mesocosm, microcosm). 2. A transcendent field of higher forces beyond the macrocosm (created world). 3. A manifestation of God. â³ From The Archives A hand-picked classic HighExistence article â[Embrace Your Personal Apocalypse if You Want to Evolve as an Artist and Human Being](â Western society tends to offer recognition based on results rather than efforts. We frequently overlook the toils undertaken on the way to greatness, as we stare up at some Iconic Successful Artist with a mixture of admiration, aspiration, and despair. Itâs easy to ignore the investigation into Iconic Successful Artistâs journey, when what theyâre presenting us with now is just so goddamn impressive. The thing is, almost all artists, creators, and pioneers will proffer the same fundamental message regarding sacrifice for success: the value is entrenched in the process, and oftentimes coming undone is a vital part of the story. Weâre all too familiar with the tortured artist archetype, and many claim that breakdown and beauty go hand in hand. In spite of this, we quite often exercise resistance towards actually experiencing the breakdown for ourselves. Netflix, beer, self-help books, ayahuasca â the abyss of band-aids for our perpetual bullet wounds runs deep, helping us at any time of day or night to find the answers, avoid the answers, or just. feel. better. But in the midst of all this âdoing,â are we missing out on a potentially crucial aspect of our development? â[Keep Reading](â ð¬ Endnote and Invitation We hope you enjoyed this issue of Down The Rabbit Hole.
