Okay, that’s bullshit and you know it. But, fuck me, I wish it weren’t. The truth is that we have just been horrifically lazy at writing updates for you here. And for that, I apologise profusely. Have we been busy at work? Yes. Is it acceptable that we can’t dedicate the time to write a monthly newsletter letting you know about all of the interesting companies, projects and initiatives we are working on around the world at Misfit? Absolutely fucking not. So. As of this month, I intend to change that. Personally. From this month onwards, I will be writing this monthly dispatch myself. I’ll be doing this for a few reasons. First of all, I’m personally embarrassed that we haven’t been able to sustainably keep you updated on our work, and I feel like I should be the one to rectify that. Secondly, I certainly have the most comprehensive purview of everything we are working on at Misfit, across all of our organisations. But most importantly, it will allow you and I to have a point of contact just in case you want to reach out to me directly. Now. To be clear, this dispatch will not include any essays from me. I’m still on my writing hiatus, but intend to return to publishing sometime towards the end of this year. If you’d like to sign up for my personal newsletter, Pursuit of Everything, you can do so right here. This monthly dispatch will simply be to keep you updated on all of the projects, initiatives and companies we are working on within the Misfit empire, which at this point, spans the wide world and includes our design and business intelligence agency, Studio Misfit, our artisan publishing house, Misfit Press, our burgeoning film studio, Misfit Productions, our cultural, humanitarian and philanthropic work, which we fashion under the Misfit Foundation, and all of our projects and initiatives that lay outside of these, which we station under Misfit Labs. This will include our technology startup, Snapstory, which was recently successfully deployed in Nepal with a large UK-based NGO. Having said that. I’ll try not to simply relay facts and photos about what we’re doing and where, but will also seek to let you know why we’re doing it and how, so that you might be able to apply our learning to your own projects and initiatives. What else will I let you know? I’ll tell you about any upcoming speaking gigs I may be doing, meetups we may be hosting or projects we may be launching. And I will also, from time to time, share about some of the fun stuff our friends might be working on across the globe. If all of that sounds like some boring horseshit that you would rather not have clogging your inbox, please feel free to unsubscribe right here. No hard feelings whatsoever. But if you leave, don’t you ever fucking come back!! Kidding! If you’d ever like to return, we’ll be right here waiting with open arms and judgemental glares. Kidding again! However. If you’d like to stick around, here are some fun facts since our last dispatch from over a year ago (again, so so sorry about that). We launched an animation division within Misfit Productions, and now have a team of ten full time account managers, art directors, illustrators and animators dedicated to that Misfit company. We published a new book at Misfit Press with Dr. Chris Ryan (of the wildly popular Tangentially Speaking podcast), and were recently mentioned on Joe Rogan’s podcast (not going to lie, that was pretty fucking cool). Confection, our first Misfit Productions film, received official selection honours at 15 film festivals across the world, and was nominated for several awards. Melissa and I moved our homebase to the Philippines. Previously, we’ve lived in New York, Stratford-upon-Avon, Fargo, Austin and a bus while roaming the country. Jessie rebuilt Snapstory, and deployed it with partner NGO’s in seven countries, including most recently in Nepal. I’ve traveled around the circumference of the earth eight or nine times. We launched Studio Misfit, a dedicated design and business intelligence agency, offering content strategy and execution, marketing automation and analysis, SEO/SEM as well as web design and technology support. In a wonderful culmination of our almost ten year partnership with The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, I was asked (and honoured) to become a Trustee. Matt and Jessie got married! We completed the build on a forty person office in Cagayan de Oro ... we may have gone a little overboard on the wall art. Alright, that’s it from me. I’ll be sending you a new message in a few weeks to let you know about all the exciting shit we’ve been cooking up this month. And as I mentioned, if you’d like to unsubscribe, you can do so here. But if you want to stick around, I promise I’ll try to make it worth your five to seven minute investment per month. Hope this finds you smiling. Your Fellow Misfit, AJ Ps - I purposefully avoided placing images in this update, but I certainly will add photos (and possibly video) to each newsletter. Pps - If you want to say hi, hit reply, it’s just me and my army of AI-powered AJ response bots on the other side. ;) Copyright © 2018 Misfit, All rights reserved. Flesch reading score

Flesch reading score measures how complex a text is. The lower the score, the more difficult the text is to read. The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables. Usually, a reading ease score of 60-70 is considered acceptable/normal for web copy.
