There, podcast networks showcased their talent and amazing upcoming content to heavy-hitting potential sponsors. While the group of potential sponsors wasn’t large, it was super powerful. There was a lot of opportunity in that room. As host, my job was to guide these powerful potential sponsors through the day. ​ Now, I had a decision to make: I could read dutifully from the teleprompter, announcing each speaker and panel with efficiency and precision (like past hosts chose to do), OR I could bring my full self to this hosting job and make it my own. I am proud to say I chose the latter. While I did dutifully (and with precision) share all the info from the teleprompter, I also took every opportunity to share commentary, my own personal stories, crack jokes, and even sing a few lines from Thunderstruck by AC/DC (true story). Bottom line: I decided that if I am going to host, I am going to do it my way, bring my full self to this experience, AND have fun. The result? Well, the conference organizers told me that I was the best, most engaged host they have ever had. ⚡Quick Tip Wednesday ⚡ Even in an intimidating room full of powerful people that you’ve never met before, choose to bring your full self to the job. Trust your instincts, trust your talents, trust your vibe, and trust that that is enough to do a job well done.
