The "[Why Your Next Hybrid Event Isn't A Ballroom" Webinar]( is a great place to start and offers plenty of out-of-the-box ideas for your next event! Summer Travel Has Begun Everything I read nowadays involves the BOOM of travel that we are about to experience. Well, I am here to announce that it is here... and I was a part of it. This past weekend, I flew into Nashville, and both PHX and BNA were poppin'. But no, I did not spend the holiday going to the honkytonks and doing the two-step (although I do have a mean two-step). I spent the weekend visiting my great aunt and uncle in a small town about two hours outside of Nashville. It was a peaceful weekend full of relaxation, family, and trees. Here's the view from my Aunt Linda's deck: [tn] Anyways, back to the madness. On the way to Tennessee, my Southwest flight was packed to the brim with bachelorette parties, wedding-goers, middle-aged party boys, and frantic travelers. I saw families, dogs, solo flyers, and more! Every type of traveler you could think of seemed to be taking advantage of the three-day weekend. The interesting bit was that Southwest suspended in-flight alcohol purchases due to an increase in rowdy fliers. However, that didn't stop the eight people surrounding me from pre-gaming the flight and betting on a card game of [BS]( the whole two and a half hours. I'm not kidding when I tell you I was in the middle of this malarkey. Below is a diagram of my position on the chaos: ❌❌❌ ❌❌❌ ❌ ❌❌ ❌❌ 🙆 But honestly? It made me smile. As did the flight attendant singing a little song about Southwest before we took off. It was nice to see people happy. My point is: with each new flight I've taken throughout the pandemic, tensions seem to be melting. And if we want to reverse engineer the timeline of the pandemic, that means that in-person events are here! And the fear of gathering is quickly melting as well. If that doesn't put a pep in your step this four-day week, I don't know what will! And now, here's the Weekly Soundcheck! 📣 What does returning to live events really mean? [9-min read]( [liveevent]( As event professionals, we know that the re-emergence of live events is not so much a return to normal as it is the start of a new normal. However, your event attendees are probably just excited to go back to the way things were and may not be thinking about what to expect. It is our responsibility to set the right expectations so everyone has a safe and enjoyable experience. Mariana has compiled some guiding principles on [how to start these conversations]( around expectations.
