[Nap better to reap the most benefits](
ð Why napping is good for your health. Our bodies need rest to thrive. ICYMI: Sleep deprivation could lead to some [serious side effects](, such as trouble thinking, high blood pressure, raised risk of heart disease, and poor balance. [Research]( suggests naps (when done properly!) can boost your mental and physical health and reduce those risks of not catching enough Zzzâs. For example, napping might help you feel more alert, improve memory, and increase immunity. ð
Stop making these napping mistakes! Iâm guilty of all of the following: sleeping for over an hour, setting a blaring alarm to wake myself up, and falling asleep too late in the day. Doing any of the above can cause you to wake up groggy or even sleepier than before. ð¤ A quick nap FAQ (or shall we say power FAQ?):
- How long should you nap? 20â30 minutes.
- Whenâs the best time to nap? Between 1 and 3 p.m. â whatever the midpoint of your day is. (And [at the same time]( every day if possible!)
- Whatâs the best way to wake up? An alarm that gradually increases in volume.
- Who should avoid naps? Folks who have [insomnia](.
- Where should you nap? A couch or comfy chair (yes, [NOT your bed](!).
