A [2022 study]( found that 57% of participants regularly hit snooze (and females are 50% more likely to do it than males). ️ Some research suggests that falling asleep after your alarm can make you more tired. This is due to [sleep inertia]( or “sleep drunkenness,” the disoriented feeling you might get after you wake up. Sleep deprivation and interrupted sleep (like from hitting the snooze button) can both contribute to that grogginess. ️ Participants of a [2023 study]( reported that snoozing “felt good” and gave them more time to wake up slowly. The study found other benefits linked with this behavior, too. People who snoozed scored higher on cognitive tests than those who didn’t.
