A team of US researchers recently set out to investigate this issue by testing the impact the male sex hormone testosterone has on decision-making processes. They found that male test subjects who were administered doses of testosterone tended to rely more strongly on their intuition when answering a variety of questions, showing a diminished capacity for self-reflection and evaluating whether their initial gut reaction to the questions actually made sense.
