[Head-Fi.org] [moderators] sent you this private message on Head-Fi.org, November 27, 7:12 pm Hi {NAME} and Welcome to Head-Fi.  Excuse the automated message, but since the site can be pretty overwhelming for new members, here are some tips and important links you will find helpful. We recommend that you take the time to read through everything here, even if you are familiar with forums or audio.  - Please post your first thread in the [Help & Recommendations Forum] if you aren't going to post in an existing thread. New members cannot make threads in the other forums. Due to problems with spam, your first posts will require moderator approval. Please do NOT re-post them if they do not show up immediately. They will be approved fairly quickly. Thanks for your patience!  - Please make sure you read our [Posting Guidelines], as well as our [Rules / Terms of Use]. Most problems members have come about from not knowing our rules.   A quick guide to the main sections of our site (the tabs at the top of each page)  There are a great many [forums] here. It's worth your while to take some time to go over them and become familiar with the many topics available.  Also, our [Head Gear] section has pictures and reviews of most headphones, amps and other equipment available in one place.  Need to know how to upload a picture or edit your profile later on? The [Wiki (articles)] section contains [Site Tutorials] to help you learn how to use the different features as well as many articles written by members.  We also have user and community [photo galleries] where you can find a great variety of pictures of audio equipment, such as people's headphone rigs.  Info about headphones and audio  As audio can be an extremely complex topic, at the top of every forum is a "sticky" with links to articles, guides and popular review threads that you will undoubtedly find helpful, such as:  • [Glossary of Terms] • [Describing Sound -- A Glossary.] • [A Hopefully Helpful Headphone Buying Guide For Newbies] • [Frequency Response of Headphones.] • [Shootout: 100+ Portable (full-size) Headphones Compared.] • [Concise Multi-IEM Comparison] (good if you're new to this) Meets and CanJam If you're looking for help finding the right pair of headphones, especially an expensive pair, there's no better way than to go to the community's independently organized [Head-Fi Meets], which are held all around the world, as nothing anyone writes can compare to actually listening to your own music with a variety of headphones and other equipment. You'll also get to meet great people and have a lot of fun.  [CanJam] are Head-Fi's official main meets. They are held throughout the year, in Singapore (CanJam Singapore), in Los Angeles (CanJam SoCal), in London (CanJam London), and at the Rocky Mountain Audio Festival (CanJam @ RMAF). Both vendors and members will have equipment on display. As well as a chance to sample some of the most popular gear, it is also a great opportunity to meet other Head-Fiers and make a lot of friends.  New member restrictions and your profile  Please note that some features, such as being able to edit your profile, avatar and signature, create and edit lists, upload pictures as well as send more than one PM per day will become available only after you've made a few posts due to issues with spammers abusing them. Once you've made a few posts and these features become available, please do fill in your profile and keep it updated, as that will help people see what music you like and what audio gear you use. PLEASE DO NOT SPAM (make useless posts) to get access to features. If everyone did that our forum would quickly fill up with rubbish. If you do so, you very likely will have your account banned.  If you have a problem with your registration, such as not receiving emails or wanting to change your user name, please reply to this message. Please do not create a new account.  Also, new members cannot post classifieds (for sale or wanted to buy). Please do not make posts or threads for either outside the classified forum as they will be deleted. Head-Fi is a community, not a trading service and the classifieds are for active community members. People who try to get around our restrictions on the use of classifieds (such as spam-posting to get access) will have their accounts banned. Use eBay or Audiogon instead. Members of the Trade:  Are you at all associated with any business that makes or sells audio or related products in any way (including working for audio stores or selling audio gear on eBay)? If you are, it is important you immediately reply to this message with details. We pride ourselves on running a community where members can be confident that opinions posted are independent, unless clearly indicated otherwise, so Members of the Trade are tagged with their company name for free. We take this very seriously, so failure to declare any conflict of interest may result in both your account being banned and company you work for being blacklisted.  Speaking of Members of the Trade, our site is kept running by a number of Sponsors. By supporting them, you support us. You can see their latest offerings [here].  Welcome to Head-Fi! -- moderators -- [Reply] Email sent to [{EMAIL}] from [Head-Fi.org]. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
