Andy Harris on Inauguration Day said: “I urge our new president to work for all Americans, not just the liberal wing of his party.” I had to laugh at the irony. No member of Congress has worked for fewer Americans than Andy Harris. Andy Harris’ constituency is those in the top tax bracket, for whom he has repeatedly and consistently voted to lower taxes while doing nothing to improve the lives of everyday Americans. No member of Congress has worked for fewer Americans than Andy Harris. Andy Harris’ constituency is those in the top tax bracket, for whom he has repeatedly and consistently voted to lower taxes while doing nothing to improve the lives of everyday Americans. He has rejected every opportunity to revitalize Maryland’s First District including Joe Biden’s infrastructure bill, which will bring jobs to our district and reshape the economy moving forward. He cares more about the hedge fund manager in DC who gave him $5,800 dollars than the waterman in Rock Hall struggling to keep his business afloat. Andy doesn’t care about workers. He seems to have a fundamental problem with helping them survive in today’s economy. He voted no on protecting the right to organize. But workers are the backbone of the American economy, and unionization is how workers get a voice in their own livelihoods. He voted no on a livable wage. He thinks that paying our workers a fair wage might lose jobs. But an economic study of cities where the minimum wage was increased found that levels of job loss were statistically insignificant. [Will you donate to Dave Harden for Congress today to help us defeat him and replace him with somoene who will fight for our workers?]( Dave Harden is a forward-thinking patriot. He supports the infrastructure bill because he has the foresight to see the change it will bring to the First. He sees that it will bring a 21st century broadband system to the Eastern Shore. He sees that it will increase funding for the EPA’s Chesapeake Bay program by almost $240 million over the next five years. He sees that it will authorize $409 million for bridge repair in Maryland alone, allowing long-needed improvements to the Bay Bridge. And Dave values our workers. He believes in the right to organize so workers can have a say in their pay and working conditions and supports a livable wage for the hard-working Marylanders struggling to make ends meet. Technology, climate disruption, and changes to finance will fundamentally re-shape the American economy over the decade ahead. Andy Harris is an economic dinosaur. As long as he continues to espouse 20th century solutions for 21st century problems, he should not be allowed to legislate past his expiration date.
