The Happy Rider Makeover Lesson 3 : Stability, Position & Direction  Maintaining your balance and stability on a moving platform (aka your horse) is not easy, partly due to the physics, and partly because of emotions.  Here’s why…  PHYSICAL: Say you are doing push-ups or dancing, and the floor keeps moving! How do you keep your body stable and not lose balance? It is the same challenge when it comes to riding!  EMOTIONAL: You love horses and want to make them happy, and we think making a horse happy means doing what the horse wants! In the beginning, your horse is going to challenge you and resist. At this point, many people worry because they think they are pulling on the horse when in fact the horse is pushing against them! And some horses can be very strong about it. As you saw in Lesson #1, a lack of leadership does not help horses to feel safe and connected to you. Horses want a good leader. Even if they challenge your leadership, as herd animals they are still impressed by someone who is a better leader than they are… and that had better be you!  In this lesson, I want you to learn how to hold your position almost no matter what the horse does. Now, if the horse is scared and freaked out, you have to do whatever it takes to calm them down, feel safe, and do what’s safe for you - which often means getting off.  Let's take a look...  [Log in now]( to access the Happy Rider Makeover.
