I am so excited to share with you my latest discoveries in teaching you how to be a better leader, communicator and rider for your horse. After 30 years of teaching and now several months of working out the best ways to teach you to be successful, I selected 10 of the most popular and necessary topics. The first three modules nail the core behaviors: Connection, Relaxation, Responsiveness. The next three cover qualities: Confidence, Impulsion, Bending. The last four relate more to performance: Harmony, Agility, Purpose and Power.  No matter your level of expertise or chosen discipline, the happy horse modules will help you progress and solve problems because it is behavior-based training - focused on your desires, your horse’s needs and the overarching goal of a happy horse.  I’ve called my program [How To Talk Horse]( because it is about learning how to communicate with horses and an understanding of horse behavior and individual characters. [Learn more about How to Talk Horse >]( [Image]( Happy Horse Challenge: Endless Transitions Challenge yourself and your horse to endless transitions, LOTS of them! Transitions are a great way for your horse to improve impulsion and balance. Get ready to listen and feel a whole new way when in the presence of horses. When I hear things like that I consider it might tell me more about the person than the horse. But for many, myself included, jumping a horse does give a special kind of thrill.  It is a thrill that, like winning a footrace or bicycling down-hill, gives me a rush. But with jumping we don’t need the athleticism ourselves, instead, we borrow our horse's speed and power.  That is not to say we don’t need any athleticism. We just don’t need the strength of a weight-lifter or the stamina of a marathon runner.  Instead, jumping involves balance and coordination, timing and thoughtfulness, like a juggler on a tightrope talking through a riddle.  Here’s a good riddle: A cowboy rides into town on Thursday, stays three days, then leaves again on Thursday. How is that possible?  I have a pet peeve. It is at clinics when someone inevitably tells me “My horse was born to jump. He just runs at all the fences. I couldn't stop him if I tried. He loves jumping so much.” There is a big difference (once you have felt it) between a horse thoughtfully going to a jump, and a horse running anxiously, at a jump...
