Tonya is a HappyCow Ambassador for Vancouver. [View this email in your browser]( [HappyCow]( [Cowmunity Spotlight]( Meet Tonya! Tonya has been traveling the world as a performer with HappyCow by her side! This Ambassador is always trying to find those special cafés or health food markets around the globe 🥐 She's a longtime vegan [Tonya Kay]( I’ve been vegan 30 years this year, believe it or not! I was vegetarian for 10 years prior to going vegan. I switched from veg to Ⓥ to give the middle finger to The System. I was hungry, it was late at night, I stopped in a truck stop and thought, “I don’t see any food here - I see neon colored plastic packaged products.” I still believe if it needs a cartoon character or bright colors to sell it, it’s not real food. So much of our mental, emotional, physical and social reality is dictated by what we put in our bodies. Food choices, advertising pressure, enticement through distracting packages are controlling our realities. I committed that very evening to eat what I considered “real food” and that, for me, was going whole food vegan. After all, there’s no conscious activity that we repeat more frequently than eating - three times/day, maybe more/maybe less, but when we change our diets, we really can change our realities and break free from the programming. Her favorite restaurants include... [Chipotle bowl ]( [Wild Living Foods]( Los Angeles [Fire rolls]( [Nightshade]( Vancouver [Vegan sesame chicken]( [Daikon]( Las Vegas [Shitake burger]( [Caravan of Dreams]( New York City [Vegan pad thai]( [Healthy Sins]( Lockport [Burrito with dips]( [ChocolaTree]( Sedona [Save these restaurants to your Favorites on HappyCow!]( [Christpiracy: The new documentary from the co-creators of Cowspiracy]( It's about more than finding food [Cheesecake slice from Peace Pies]( I’m a world-traveling vegan who has toured performing in music concerts or theatre productions for a cumulative 9 years in my past, and HappyCow has helped me find that special cafe or health food market in Italy, Switzerland, Spain, Japan, Thailand, Costa Rica, all 50 States and more! As a traveler, when I find the vegan spots, I also find the kool kids. [Check out our Top 10 Vegan-Friendly Cities list!]( New vegans are the future I LOVE young vegan energy! I’m not talking about earth age here - you can be 66 and a young vegan, if you know what I mean. Young vegans are the most powerful activists! They are often loud and sincere in their emotional exploration of the paradigm of compassion, health, environmentalism they’ve devoted themselves to. My advice for young vegans and vegan-curious is make new friends and find your community - online, locally, travel for it if you really want this to work. You’re going to end up liking yourself better after you’ve followed through for a few years and that’s the point of no going back - when you recognize how you’ve blossomed from your own compassion. Also: bring guacamole. To the potluck. To the holiday dinner. To the social gathering. Bring guacamole. Keep up with Tonya! Tonya is always sharing vegan eats from her travels. Follow her on social for those recommendations and to see the day-to-day life of a performer 🎬 [HappyCow]( | [Instagram]( | [Facebook]( | [Twitter IMDB]( | [LinkTree]( Are you the vegan expert in your city?
