Julia is a HappyCow Ambassador for Warsaw. [View this email in your browser]( [HappyCow]( [Cowmunity Spotlight]( Meet Julia! [Julia]( is a top Ambassador for Warsaw, and she's always sharing the best vegan food pics! Learn more about her journey to veganism, favorite restaurants, and more below 💜 Her vegan journey was gradual [HappyCow Ambassador Julia]( I became [fully vegan]( at the age of sixteen so a bit over four years ago now. I had been vegetarian for a few years and had been slowly reducing the amount of animal products I was consuming up until that point. Looking back, I think that this gradual way of doing things really benefited me in the long term - it was easier to slowly make vegan substitutions to what I was already eating, and it made the whole process much less overwhelming. My main reason for going vegan has always been the animals. It never felt right to consume any animal-derived products, and the only challenge with veganism, in my opinion, is the people around you who don’t understand this moral choice. I never questioned or doubted my decision to go vegan. As I met more [vegan friends]( and people whose lifestyles more closely aligned to mine, it made being vegan so much easier. Her favorite restaurants include... [Rice, beans, and greens]( [Lokal Vegan Bistro]( Warsaw [Spicy miso soup]( [Vegan Ramen Shop]( Warsaw [Potatoes and greens]( [Vege Miasto]( Warsaw [Vegan peking duck]( [Loving Hut]( Warsaw [Traditional fava]( [5SENSES Restaurant]( Santorini [White chocolate and raspberry donut]( [Considerit]( Edinburgh [Save these restaurants to your Favorites on HappyCow!]( Warsaw is so vegan-friendly! [Mapu tofu from Uki Green]( I’m probably very biased in this opinion, but I genuinely think that [Warsaw]( is one of the best cities for vegans. I’ve never been to a place that has so many fully-vegan restaurants and cafes in such close proximity. Additionally, there is so much variety in the vegan cuisine available here. Fully vegan Italian restaurant? Vegan Mexican restaurant? Vegan sushi place? There’s always room for more, but Warsaw definitely seems to have a large selection of very high quality restaurants. It is not surprising that it is on [HappyCow’s top 10 vegan cities worldwide list]( but I’d argue that it’s better suited for vegans than some of the cities that can be found ranked above it. [HappyCow Ambassador Julia]( As much as I agree that London, Berlin, and New York are heaven for vegans, from my own experience it’s much harder to find specific vegan restaurants in these densely-packed metropolitan areas. Particularly in the UK, I have found that most if not all cafes or restaurants have several vegan options. It’s much easier to find vegetarian or veg-friendly places there. Where Warsaw shines, in my opinion, is its [very specialized and high-quality fully-vegan restaurants](. And that is what, in my opinion, differentiates it from all other cities I’ve ever been to. But again, my experience of growing up here has definitely influenced my very biased opinion. [See where Warsaw placed on our Top 10 Vegan-Friendly Cities list!]( For the non-vegans in your life: My main piece of [advice]( would be to remember why you’re doing this. For me, veganism has always been an ethical decision. If I ever had any doubts, I’d go back to my main reason for choosing this lifestyle. It’s definitely not always easy. Especially living in a world of non-vegans who cannot understand why you’ve made this choice. Having a [support system]( always helps. I was lucky enough to always have at least one vegan friend in my close circle. And finding vegan friends is surprisingly easy these days. A lot of them don’t openly advertise being vegan at the start, but you eventually realize that they are. I was unknowingly friends with a few vegans last year before realizing it. And now we’re able to go exploring vegan restaurants together. It’s awfully nice living in a little vegan bubble sometimes if I’m being honest. If you’re struggling to find vegan friends, feel free to reach out on social media as I love expanding my vegan circle. And who would I be if I didn’t recommend [HappyCow as a tool]( to go vegan? It seems to be my personality trait at this point to bring up HappyCow in conversation or take food photos to post on there. I’ve been actively using HappyCow basically as long as I’ve been vegan which I feel like says a lot. Keep up with Julia! For vegan recs, Julia's HappyCow profile is a must-follow!
