[North and South Korea INSTALL HISTORIC Hotline Between Leaders]( North and South Korea have opened a historic hotline directly linking the two leaders ahead of next week's high-stakes summit; potentially clearing a path towards the official end of the 68-year long Korean War. [CALIFORNIA SCHEMIN': Trump Says Feds 'WON'T PAY' for Troop 'CHARADE']( President Trump fired-back at California Governor Jerry Brown Thursday, saying the federal government "will not pay" for his National Guard to "do nothing" when sent to the United States' southern border with Mexico. The President's fiery comments come just hours after Brown agreed to deploy his National Guard, but added severe restrictions that barred them from enforcing "immigration laws" or cooperating with border agents. "Governor Jerry Brown announced he will deploy "up to 400 National Guard Troops" to do nothing. The crime rate in California is high enough, and the Federal Government will not be paying for Governor Brown's charade. We need border security and action, not words!" Trump tweeted. [GRASSLEY GOES ROGUE: Says His Panel WILL VOTE on MUELLER 'Protections']( Just one day after Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell confirmed he had "no plans" to vote on official "protections" for Robert Mueller, Sen. Chuck Grassley announced his panel will go forward and vote on the proposed legislation. According to USA Today, Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley said Thursday his committee will vote next week on a bill to protect the special counsel from being fired by President Trump. "Some have raised the question of why the committee plans on proceeding with the markup despite the fact that the majority leader has indicated that he will not take this bill up on the floor," said Grassley. "The views of the majority leader are obviously important to consider, but they do not govern what happens here on the Judiciary Committee."
