Of the modern carpets, highlights include Colosseum by Ingalill Sjöblom, Buketter by Annie Frykholm, Pilevall by Ingrid Dessau and Riddarsporrar by Judith Johansson. Antique carpet highlights include a couple of Heriz carpets, Chinese carpets and a spectacular Shahsavan/Azerbaijani runner. The conference, held in collaboration with the Istanbul Carpet Exporters’ Association, will showcase the value of carpets to collectors of the past and present, and discuss how to ensure today’s new products can have the necessary qualities to inspire collectors of the future. The three-day event is dedicated to furthering the understanding and appreciation of carpets and textiles through six informative sessions presented by scholars and collectors in the field. This year's sessions will be: Double ikats worldwide; Syrian textiles; Early Caucasian rug fragments; Afshar rugs and bags; Turkmen main carpets; Afshar rugs and bags; Turkmen main carpets; Ottoman influences on Islamic batik from Indonesia. Attendees are also encouraged to bring examples from their own collections for a 'Show and Tell'. The participation of established dealers provides the opportunity to purchase rugs and textiles at a dealer's show. There is a registration fee of $160 per person to attend the Forum. The talk, which is hosted by The George Washington University Museum and Textile Museum, coincides with its new exhibition Irresistible: The Global Patterns of Ikat. A special carpet section will be included, following the success of its inaugural appearance last year. In 2024, it will take place as part of a larger and more inclusive show, the Morocco Carpet & Flooring Trade Show, and will host more than thirty Moroccan carpet companies producing genuine hand-woven Moroccan carpets, as well as tiles and floor coverings. Among the exhibiting companies, carpet cooperatives and weavers from the Taznakht region will be many well-known brands including Le Nouvel Atlas, Le Cadeau Berbère, La Porte d'Or, Artco, Sanae Benzaitar rug studio, Weberber, Bibi Carpet, Mocary, Tuftart and ZARIB.
