The sale offers an interesting opportunity for collectors, dealers, individuals, interior designers and scholars to find outstanding deals on carpets and textiles of many sizes and types. Curated by Rachel Dedman, the show has been organised by Kettle’s Yard in collaboration with the Whitworth, The University of Manchester, where it will travel from 24 November–7 April 2024. The exhibition will explore the historical life and contemporary significance of Palestinian embroidery. More than forty 40 dresses and embroidered objects have been lent from important private collections in Jordan and Palestine. Also featured will be artworks by five contemporary artists, films of embroiderers speaking about their work and rarely seen archive material. Shown above is an everyday dress from Gaza or Hebron, 1935-1940, from the collection of Tiraz: Widad Kawar Home for Arab Dress. [Find out more.]( [News] An exhibition which reflects on ways to convey history, tradition, culture and memory via weaving, ‘Woven Spaces’ is now showing at Fenaa Alawwal, Riyadh until 31 July. It features works by, among others, Sheila Hicks, Sammy Baloji, Hanibal Srouji, Jana Ghalayini, Dana Awartani, Nojoud Al Sudairi, Manal Al Dowayan and We Make Carpets, whose Marble Carpet (right), commissioned for the show, is made of 6,000 pieces of marble, granite and Riyadh stone. The Fenaa Alawwal arts and culture centre opened in December 2022 and is located in the former headquarters of the Kingdom’s first commercial bank Saudi capital’s Diplomatic Quarter.
