[News] 'Korean Fashion: From Royal Court to Runway' is showing at The George Washington University Museum and The Textile Museum in Washington D.C. until 22 December 2022. The exhibition is the first to explore the evolution of Korea's fashion and textiles over a period of 125 years, spanning from Korea's last royal dynasty to the current Korean wave (Hallyu) which draws on traditional influences. Of particular interest are the rare examples of silk clothing worn at the Korean royal court during the Joseon dynasty. The auction is comprised of ninety-one antique carpets and textiles, as well as modern Scandinavian carpets. The highlights include two 17th–century carpets, a ‘Lotto’ rug and a Safavid ‘Blossom and Sickle’ carpet. The 19th–century carpets include a Garus Bijar, with the same pattern as the Costikyan-Macmullen carpet, an exquisite silk and metal Istanbul rug and three Kashan rugs by Motashem, amongst others. The Scandinavian carpets and textiles include 18th–19th century cushions from Scania (in Southern Sweden), modern classics such as Vit botten and Ill Grecco by Märta Måås Fjetterstöm and Snäckorna by Barbro Nilsson, amongst others.
