Here's to a new year of new hardware hacks! [3602421454791242043.png] Wednesday, January 4, 2023 [Open Source Two-Wheeled, Self-Balancing Robot Uses Bluetooth »]( Three Cheers For the New Year Although it's true that nothing changes on New Year's Day (except for the calendar), there may be brighter days ahead. With a little luck, the parts shortage will peter out sometime this year, and the spice will flow once more. Well, one can hope, anyway. So what lies ahead in 2023? We don't really know, either, but at least we can make plans. For starters, our FPV Contest wrapped up this week, and while it's not technically the first contest of the year, we're certain that the next one is right around the corner. And even though winter technically just started in the Northern Hemisphere, spring is not far off, and you know what that means -- the return of the Hackaday Prize, which is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year. But before we kick off A Very Special Hackaday Prize this spring, there's plenty of time to keep those soldering irons warmed up with interim projects. May you find inspiration below, and have a great year ahead. [project thumbnail]( [Domestic Acoustic Cannon Disperses Miscreants]( What do you do when a gang of trapitos continually threaten your parked car unless you give them "protection" money? If you can't kill them with kindness, annoy them with acoustics. [project thumbnail]( [Simple Nixie Clock Uses Four Tubes]( A special set of sockets make it super easy to swap out the tubes should one of them break. You'll be back up and running in no time.
