From a key issue, this page features that haughty mental madam from Titan, Moondragon (even though she is calling herself "Madame MacEvil") in her first comic appearance. This was the first part of the Thanos War story arc. Tuska penciled, Colletta inked, and it is reported that Bill Everett inked the Sub-Mariner heads to keep them consistent with his own book. []Sam Glanzman, RIP
[Fantasia animation]
Glanzman's cover for Saigon Stories
perfectly captured the despair and
loneliness of the common G.I. We recently learned that Sam Glanzman, veteran of a six-decade career in comics, passed away at age 92.
If you're not familiar with Glanzman's work, we recommend that you begin with his U.S.S. Stevens stories. Glanzman served aboard the real-life ship by that name 1941-1945, and used his years aboard her to create springboards for some of the most moving short stories in the DC war comics. You'll find several complete stories that you can [read in their entirety here](.
Our friend Don Mangus once asked Mr. Glanzman in an interview "How do you want to be remembered when the accurate history is finally written?" Glanzman responded, "Hell! Just remember me!"
