[Joe Gallagher All-American Comics #59 Story Page 3 The Atom Original Art (DC Comics, 1944)]( Joe Gallagher All-American Comics #59 Story Page 3 The Atom Original Art (DC Comics, 1944)
Mighty rare that a Golden Age Atom piece will surface nowadays -- always a treat to the eye. The toughest little guy in comics can be counted on for plenty of acrobatic action, and this page is a choice example. Al "Atom" Pratt dodges a runaway automobile, suits up in his crimebuster costume, and lays siege to the bad guys in scarcely the space of eight panels. Gallagher's solid radial page composition draws energy from the juxtaposition of squared and circular border-shapes, and from the dynamic spotting of patches of black-ink gravity. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Twice-up image area, 13" x 18.5". Moderate toning and smudging. Very Good condition. From the Ethan Roberts Estate Collection.

[John Calmette Batman: The Animated Series Painting (Warner Brothers, c. 1990s)]( John Calmette Batman: The Animated Series Painting (Warner Brothers, c. 1990s)
A striking image by one of the most influential of the background artists who worked on the smash hit Batman: The Animated Series. Taking some of its art deco inspiration from the legendary Max Fleischer Superman shorts from the 1940s, this series was incredibly influential. It helped to raise the bar on the artistic production values of animation produced for television: Disney's Gargoyles and Marvel's Spiderman quickly followed suit. This moody, atmospheric piece shows a steely-faced Batman, standing in front of a full moon and an ominous red sky, as his cape billows around him and he clinches his fist. Calmette (along with Bruce Timm) was one of the artists who gave the TV series its very distinctive look, with moody and mysterious film noir inspired backgrounds. Canvas is signed by artist. An acrylic on unframed stretched canvas that measures 24" x 36". In Fine Condition.

Here it is! A refurbished tripped-out Knott's Scary Farm Halloween Haunt monster hearse! Built in 1965 and bought by the park from Cadillac King in 2009, it was used at Knott's Scary Farm events in 2010-2014. It was completely refurbished, with a custom paint job, turbo GM transmission, and 454 Chevy new crate engine, with more than $5,000 spent on the jacked-up suspension. It was kept at the entrance to the park as well as inside the park during Knott's Scary Farm and was part of the 11th Annual Halloween Hearse Progression Show in Costa Mesa on 10/24/2010. It was also featured in many custom car shows. This car won the Best of Show award -- "Most Likely to Be Ticked!" -- in one of these shows! It is 77" wide, 96" high, and is 21' long. It runs and is being sold "as is" with no warranty, and with no running condition implied. Now this is a true piece of Knott's Scary Farm history! Sold with title. Good condition.

[Ghost Town 'Main Street Tombstone' Prop (c. 1940s-50s)]( [Ghost Town "Main Street Tombstone" Prop (c. 1940s-50s)](
Vintage "Deadwood Dick" prop tombstone from the Ghost Town Main Street. It was written that originally every one of the epitaphs actually was on a tombstone somewhere. Sign makers at Knott's used rubber masking tape and carefully cut out all the lettering, pasting the letters onto the new wood markers. Then they took the markers to sandblasters, which made each one look like it had been through 50 years of sandstorms. Then, the rubber tape was taken off and the markers looked as real as the authentic ones. This original RARE Ghost Town grave marker reads "Here Lies Deadwood Dick," with his epitaph below his name. The marker is made of weathered wood measuring 16" x 38". There is an 18" split in the wood along the left side. Good condition. One of the best pure pieces of Ghost Town history!
[Park Entrance Poster Original Art and 'Can-Can' Calico Saloon Sign (1980)]( [Park Entrance Poster Original Art and "Can-Can" Calico Saloon Sign (1980)](
In 1980, Bob Bates was commissioned to create a series of paintings for use as park entrance posters highlighting the different sections and rides at Knott's Berry Farm. These posters are part of the permanent display at Virginia's Gift Shop and part of the history of Knott's walls. This original painting for a Knott's Berry Farm California poster is the masterpiece of the collection. It showcases the Calico Railroad, Calico Saloon Dance Hall Girl, Fiesta Village, Panning for Gold, Log Ride, and other attractions, painted on board measuring 9" x 24", signed by the artist in the Fiesta Village dancing girl's skirt. Original artwork up for famous Park Entrance Posters is virtually impossible to find! Also included in this lot is a mounted Bob Bates poster for Calico Saloon featuring a can-can dancer. The poster is laminated to a piece of Old West-style wood measuring 25" x 32". Great paintings created 37 years ago! Minor handling and edge wear. Very Good condition.
[Wooden Cigar Store Indian (c. 1970s)](
[Wooden Cigar Store Indian (c. 1970s)](
The original Old Knife Makers Shop was built in 1953 on Market Street. It was originally called The Box House as it was originally built out of boxes. Today the Overland Gun Shop occupies that location. The sign out front reads, "Overland Gun Shop Buffalo Guides and Trapper Supplies." In front of this store is a handsome hand-carved and hand-painted Indian Chief. He stands 75" tall, and the impressive headdress is 45" long. A beautiful piece of woodwork, carved by the father of Frank Gallagher, who is the current carver at the Knife Store and whose carvings are for sale. Minor age from in-park display, overall Very Good condition.
[Paul von Klieben 'California or Bust' Ghost Town Painting (c. 1940s-50s)]( [Paul von Klieben "California or Bust" Ghost Town Painting (c. 1940s-50s)](
Artist Paul von Klieben began his partnership with Walter Knott by completing the original Cyclorama painting that showcased Knott's grandparents coming out of the desert, headed for California. If there was but one stand-alone painting that drew from that first Knott/von Klieben project, it's this magnificent panorama titled "California or Bust". It's an amazing original painting on board measuring a whopping 151" x 57". More than ten horse- and mule-drawn wagons being hauled over the mountains are depicted in this amazing Von Klieben original. Painting is on two board sections; a 20" x 52" section was needed to add to the original board to complete the painting. There is a small space between the two boards. It's in the original frame that still that has bolt holes from where it was mounted, for security reasons, to the wall in Ghost Town. The massive painting is hand-signed in the bottom left corner by Mr. von Klieben. The first wagon leading the entourage has "California or Bust" on the wagon cover. The minor handling, scratches, and surface wear are from more than 60 years of public display. Overall Very Good condition. A very important painting!
[Antique Tricycle (c. early 1900s)]( [Antique Tricycle (c. early 1900s)](
Outstanding early turn-of-the-century American tricycle that was once used as a display piece at Knott's Berry Farm Ghost Town. Great red highlights, with a measurement of 2'9" x 5'. Not known if it includes all original parts. Tires have some rubber spots missing. Beautiful piece for re-purposing, or for the avid bike collector. Good condition.

Ming Dynasty Quintessential Chinese Work of Art Highlights Asian Art Auction
[Ming Dynasty Windswept]( With less than a week before the close of bidding for Heritage Auctions' [Inaugural Fine Asian Art Signature Auction on April 2]( collector interest is growing for the catalog cover subject.
The [Large and Rare Chinese Blue and White Porcelain Windswept Jar]( (est. $30,000-50,000) from the Guan Ming Dynasty, 15th century is garnering interest as a quintessential Chinese work of art — the exact kind of thing Asian specialists spend the year trying to find.
"The jar has been in the family of a seafaring Boston marine insurance magnate since nearly the turn of the century and is presented here to the global Chinese arts market for the first time since its acquisition. It is such a clean and excellent work of art from China's most famous Dynasty and embodies our area of specialty so well, there is no auctioneer, dealer, collector or museum worldwide that would not put up a fight to at least possess it for a short while," explained Richard Cervantes, Heritage Auctions Asian Arts Consignment Director.
The "Ming vase" is a concept nearly as ubiquitous as "Holy Grail" and many people who are not collectors and who have no idea what "Ming" means still know and use the term. It epitomizes quality, rarity, refinement and antiquity. It is the antique, if there is one. While this piece is technically a jar, not a vase, it still represents the Ming Dynasty as few other pieces can. It is an extraordinarily large ceramic vessel that not only demonstrates the achievements of 15th century Chinese potters, but is masterfully decorated in 360 degrees with Daoist immortals and deities in vivid underglaze cobalt blue
The jar having reticulated carved rosewood lid, neck adorned with banded scrollwork in blue underglaze, shoulder with repeating crosshatching and foliate cartouches, body decorated with Xiwangmu, "Queen Mother of West" holding a basket of peaches and flanked by two female attendants, eight figures likely depicting the Eight Immortals, boy with deer, and scholars engaged in a game of go, raised on carved rosewood base. The jar, stand and lid measure 21 inches high.
