A refined modern art style that his previous work only hinted at and was a shock to the system of traditional comic art at the time. Sienkiewicz's work during his New Mutants run has been often cited for reinventing comic art for the modern age and heavily influencing an entire generation of boundary-pushing artists that followed. You would be hard pressed to find a more perfect Aparo image than this piece that combines a dynamic Batman, with a striking Bat-symbol silhouette and looming images of some of his biggest foes. As a bonus, it was also the cover for an issue of The Comic Reader, which is how fans got news on upcoming issues before the dawn of the Internet. Those 100-page issues were jam-packed with reprints from the Golden Age and the 1950s. They introduced many Bronze Age fans to the comic lore of old. But let's just look at that Man-Bat again, o.k.?
