Here’s my favorite way to help get and stay slim and fit without EVER setting foot in a gym: {N

Here’s my favorite way to help get and stay slim and fit without EVER setting foot in a gym: [Dr. Steven Gundry | Founder, Gundry MD]( {NAME}, which of these people burns more calories? - The person who wakes up before sunrise for a 5-mile run  - The person who mows the lawn, walks the dog, and does a sinkful of dishes A lot of people would say it’s the early morning runner… But what if I told you the second person actually burns MORE calories! Because while a 5-mile run burns about 500 calories on average… Doing simple household chores can collectively burn up to 700 calories!¹ It’s a perfect example of one of my favorite tricks to support a trim, toned body: “Exercise snacking.” We all know that exercise is one of the keys to looking and feeling young. But when most people think of exercise, they think of spending an hour running or lifting weights in the gym. And that’s just a daunting thought for most people. Luckily, you can actually get ALL the benefits of exercise by breaking up your workouts into “exercise snacks.” These are quick, easy exercises you can do anywhere at any time. They’re a super simple way to enjoy many of the whole-body benefits of things like running or lifting weights… In fact, you might not even consider them exercise! Here are a few of my favorite “exercise snacks”: - Do some chores — Did you know housewives in the 1950s were often much more fit than their husbands? That’s probably because the chores they were doing each day kept them trim and toned! Things like vacuuming, dusting, and even just making your bed can actually burn more than 100 calories at a time… So getting around to that chore you’ve been putting off can actually do your body a HUGE favor.  - Do THIS while you watch TV — Could your favorite show actually make you fitter? It can! Just squeeze in some “leg lifts” while you’re relaxing on the couch. All you have to do is slowly extend one leg out until it’s as straight as you can make it… then slowly lower it back down, and repeat with the other leg. (Just make sure your back is straight and secure on the back of the couch to keep you stable.) This simple habit is a great way to turn sedentary TV time into a health-boosting activity.  - Have a dance party — Although most people might not consider dancing an “exercise…” It can actually burn MORE calories than walking! Simply throwing on your favorite song and grooving out for a few minutes at a time can make a tremendous difference in your body and mood :) {NAME}, here’s a little challenge for you: Try to squeeze in 3 exercise snacks a day for the next week. At the end of the week, take note of how you feel. Chances are, you’ll find yourself feeling energized, mobile, and overall happier than a week before. So give it a try and let me know how it works for you! Looking out for you, Steven Gundry, MD [Steven Gundry, MD](  Sources 1. Housework calorie burn: Clean up, Slim Down WebMD.
