Hey,I'm Sahil, the founder and CEO of Gumroad, which I started in 2011 to sell something I had made myself. I wanted to welcome you! You're probably pre Welcome to Gumroad! Hey, I'm Sahil, the founder and CEO of Gumroad, which I started in 2011 to sell something I had made myself. I wanted to welcome you! You're probably pretty familiar with Gumroad by this point, but if you're not: Gumroad is a super-simple set of ecommerce tools for creators and artists to sell digital products, courses, and memberships, directly to their audience. In exchange, we take a small cut. To date, we've helped creators put $250,000,000 in their pockets. $100M of that in the last year! One thing I've learned over the last nine years building Gumroad is that creators and artists honestly don't need that much advice. They need tools to help them do what they already want to do, they need money (to pay for food and rent), they need time, they need a community of supporters, and ultimately, they need to believe in themselves. We've tried to align our company along these vectors. While Gumroad helps creators earn money, [our Twitter]( (62k followers) and [Instagram]( (10k followers) accounts try to fill the gap in terms of inspiration and motivation. More than once a week we get a creator that says "thanks for that message! It was the final thing that got me to take the leap!" We also have [an active Facebook group]( of active Gumroad creators that we recommend you join. Often other creators can help you out better than we can! And that's exactly what we want to hear. Because it's not easy to become a full-time, independent creator, doing what you love to make a living. But it is possible! We've seen it happen now thousands of times. And we're confident we'll see it happen millions of more times over the coming years and decades! Finally, we're creators too. We recently launched a comic strip called Gumroadians, about all the struggles and trials that creators go through. You can [follow us on Twitter]( and [Instagram](. Stay tuned for more emails from us, mostly about new product features that can serve you better in your creative journey. We try to ship a new thing every few weeks. You're welcome to opt-out at anytime, and can always opt-in again as well! And if you reply to this email, it will goes straight to me. So if you ever have any feedback, let me know. Happy creating! Best, [Sahil]( and the Gumroad team PS. We use Gumroad to power this newsletter, so it's a taste of what Gumroad can do for you too.
