Taking up nearly 10,000 square feet in a 155-year-old building, the new space is a center of creativity that captures the energy of Gucci at any moment, where you can discover the latest collections and new collaborations. To celebrate the opening, Andy Warhol’s Interview Magazine, whose heritage began and remains in SoHo, collaborated with the House to re-print limited quantities of the historic December 1985 Music Issue featuring Madonna on the cover. The reprinted Interview Magazine issue will be available in the Gucci Wooster space. ABCDEFGucci: the space is the first location to launch the new Gucci DIY offer. Unique lettering can be customized on Ophidia totes and Ace sneakers in a variety of fabric and color combinations. A digital interactive tool will allow clients to view their customized product in real time through Augmented Reality technology. Gucci Wooster exclusively previews the Gucci-Dapper Dan collection two months prior to the worldwide launch. The Harlem designer, who built a cult following in New York in the 1980s and early 1990s, takes cue from his archive and re-imagines garments and accessories in an exclusive capsule collection. Gucci Wooster will debut a 3D video display with glasses-free 3D technology. For the opening, the screening room will feature ‘Into a Space of Love’ a documentary on house music directed by Wu Tsang—from ‘The Second Summer of Love’ the four-part film series in collaboration with Frieze—as well as a short prelude directed by Adam Csoka Keller and Evelyn Benčičová. Meet John “Jellybean” Benitez a fixture of New York city’s music and club culture takes up music residency at the Gucci Wooster space. DJ, record producer and songwriter has curated the playlist for the space through early 2019, with a line-up of music that recalls his Fun House residency in the 80s.
