Last Thursday, devastating tornadoes touched down across Alabama, killing nine people and destroying entire communities. These strong bonds between neighbors mean that during a crisis, residents spring into action to help each other with immediate needs like food, water, and shelter. These protection teams also translate into political power to win policies that advance climate justice.
