Rural areas used to be a place where progressive policies had massive support, bringing a real positive change to the working classes. We need this support again. [] [Continue reading...]( Bringing Back the Progressive Rural America [ Historically, rural communities have been an integral part of progressive movements and have contributed significantly to our nation's prosperity. However, in recent decades, these communities have been neglected by leaders of both political parties, leading to economic unrest and political alienation among rural residents. Through extensive conversations with rural leaders, it has become evident that there are several key priorities that must be addressed to ensure the well-being and prosperity of rural communities: - Representation and Inclusivity: Rural communities demand visibility, voice, and inclusion in decision-making processes at both national and state levels. Recognizing their unique challenges and perspectives is paramount in shaping policy priorities - Partnership and Resources: Rural communities seek partnerships and resources to enhance their capacity and foster prosperity. It is incumbent upon federal and state governments to provide the necessary support for empowerment and economic growth. - Regional Collaboration: Collaborative efforts among rural, urban, and suburban areas are pivotal in addressing shared challenges effectively. While jointly addressing common issues, it is imperative to address the specific needs and concerns of rural communities. Furthermore, it is essential to acknowledge the diversity within rural America and recognize the unique systemic discrimination experienced by Black, Indigenous, Latino, and Asian residents. Policies should be implemented to address historic and current injustices and promote equity and inclusion. Additionally, government investment is urgently needed to support infrastructure development, job creation, healthcare, education, and other essential services in rural communities. We must prioritize funding for physical and human capital to ensure the long-term viability of these regions. Thank you for taking the time to consider these important issues. I look forward to working together to support and uplift rural communities across our nation.
