Junk science at the center of the abortion case before SCOTUS

{NAME}, Earlier this month we learned that the studies at the center of the mifepristone case before the Supreme Court were revoked by the journal that originally published them. Both studies, cited multiple times by the conservative, Trump-appointed federal judge who first ruled on the case, were found to be deeply flawed. As a scientist, I am not surprised by this development. Even before this controversial ruling, there were widespread reports about the lack of scientific basis for these studies, including a conflict of interest in who funded them to begin with. These sham studies were funded by anti-abortion extremists for the sole purpose of creating a legal framework to deny women safe abortions. Now, alarmingly, Donald Trump has announced his support for a federal abortion ban. Make no mistake, if Republicans are in control of the federal government, they will pass a national abortion ban.
