Hi, {NAME} -- After four years of division and an outright denial of facts and reason, we have elected new leadership to the White House. As I celebrated President-Elect Joe Biden's and Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris's historic victory, my team and I shared a collective sigh of relief that our next leaders believe in science and will fight for the issues we have highlighted in our own campaign. Today, I am checking to give you an update and to say thank you. At this point in the race for NY-01, we know that there are over 82,000 ballots left to be counted, and we owe it to each voter to count every ballot. This can take a while: we do not expect the Suffolk Board of Elections to begin counting absentee ballots until November 16, and they may not start with our race. As soon as we know more, I will reach out again, but until then, know how proud I am of this campaign we built together and how much your support means to me. When I stepped forward to run for office 16 months ago, I couldn't have imagined how large our team would grow -- or how far our message would reach. On this campaign, we have focused on truth, reality, and the need for people who understand science to have a seat at the decision-making table -- and itâs clear our message resonated with the hundreds of thousands of voters who turned in ballots early or voted in person on Tuesday. The fact is, a Long Island incumbent has never faced a campaign challenge like ours -- and it would not have been possible without you, my talented staff, or our thousands of volunteers.
