Mifepristone was approved by the FDA more than 20 years ago and has been used by more than 5 million women in the United States. I am not surprised by this latest attack on reproductive rights. Dangerous organizations like the ADF rely on pseudoscience to try and defend their outdated, self-serving agendas. But let's set the record straight on something — this case is about more than FDA approval. It is another step in the extremists’ plan to ban abortion nationwide. I will continue to stand alongside the majority of Americans, which includes the majority of New Yorkers, who know that reproductive care IS health care. Personal decisions about reproductive health care — including medication abortions — should be left between women and their doctors, and not the minority of anti-choice extremists.
