Learn how to build peace through different kinds of travel. The latest news from Go Overseas. Travel is an incredibly powerful force in the world. Studies have estimated that the total economic impact of the tourism industry is somewhere around seven trillion dollars (7 with nine zeros after it!). Tourism now touches literally every corner of the planet, and there's even talk of space tourism becoming a thing. Remote towns and cosmopolitan cities are equally impacted, and we don't always understand the full picture until years after tourism has started to happen in a new destination. At Go Overseas, we think a lot about the power of tourism and the role we play as a company who encourages travel. We want every reader to feel empowered to set out on a trip; we also want you to understand how to have a positive impact no matter where you travel. In particular, we spent time exploring the idea that travel can be a peace-building opportunity. While the world feels increasingly like the opposite of peace, [we consider encouraging peace-building meaningful travel]( vital part of our mission]( Go Overseas.]( Last week was the [United Nations International Day of Peace]( and we used that as an opportunity to take a look at the impact different types of meaningful travel can have. We wrote several stories that you can read to learn more about how you can help build peace in the world: [How to Cultivate Peace Through Slow Travel]( [How to Build Peace]( [Any Time]( Travel]( [How to Build Peace by Providing Meaningful Travel]( [How Volunteering Abroad]( [Can Build Peace]( [How Teaching Abroad Can Build Peace]( [How Studying Abroad Can Build Peace]( You can build peace through any type of travel, but hopefully, these stories will give you some ideas for your next trip. We genuinely believe that travel is a positive force in the world -- and this is one of the many ways. Where are you headed on your next trip, and how can we help you get there? See you next week!
