Thanks to cautiously reopening indoor movie theaters, streaming services and drive-ins, this fall movie season proves there have never been more ways to see a new movie. Here's a look at what you can expect this fall, whether it's at the multiplex, your home theater or even your car. [Event Image]( The Summer Blockbuster, Coming to You This Fall From the latest mind-bender from Christopher Nolan to the next excellent adventure from Bill & Ted, fall 2020 is jam-packed with postponed new releases that were originally scheduled to open earlier in the year. The most highly anticipated is undoubtedly Tenet, Christopher Nolan's trippy thriller about a man who can reverse time (a superpower that could've come in really handy in 2020 ...), which is finally premiering this Labor Day weekend. Superhero fans have Wonder Woman 1984 and X-Men spin-off The New Mutants to look forward to soon, while fans of the time-traveling guitar slacker genre will get a totally non-bogus end to their summer when Bill & Ted Face the Music this weekend. And whether you're ready to go back to the cinema now or just want to stock up now for when you're ready, e-tickets are a great way to save on the movies you love — and make a fun present for the movie lover in your life (even if that's, well, you!). [Event Image]( Keeping You Safe & (Relatively) Stress-Free How are theaters adapting to keep you safe once you're ready to see a movie on the big screen again? Well, just last week the country's four largest theater chains — AMC, [Cinemark](, Marcus Theaters and [Regal Cinemas]( — announced CinemaSafe, a set of industry-wide safety standards meant to take some of the stress and confusion out of going back to the movies. Now you'll see a seat-with-a-green-check-mark icon at your local cinema, designed to let you know that the theater is enforcing new protocols like face masks for all staff and theatergoers, except when eating or drinking during a movie; a limited theater capacity of between 40% and 50%, depending on the chain; and a temporary ban on condiment stations (so maybe BYO jalapeños?). [Event Image]( A Big *Plus* for New Movie Fans With cinemas shut down for months this year, it seems natural that popcorn sales would take a nosedive, too. Surprise: Turns out not only have popcorn sales been up this year — demand has actually [surged dramatically since lockdown](! Our theory? Now that [Disney+]( has unleashed an entire universe of popcorn movies into our homes (like the entire Star Wars saga, pretty much all the Marvel movies, and a Disney vault's worth of classics and new Pixar faves, just to name a few), there aren't enough kernels in the world to keep up. Two upcoming Disney+ releases we're giddy about: The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special (which comes out on Life Day, for all you Star Wars superfans!) and the new live-action Mulan, which Disney is releasing as a premium $29.99 add-on to its [Disney+ streaming service]( in place of a traditional theatrical release. Well, a growing number of streaming services offer movies fine-tuned to your unique interests from the comfort, safety and close-proximity-to-the-fridge-ness of home, whether it's [obscure world cinema](, [new classics from across the pond]( or [dance and theater docs](. And a number of [movie festivals have recently gone digital]( too, so you can discover all kinds of cool independent movies from little-known filmmakers. [Event Image]( The Return of the Drive-In Almost impossible to imagine back in 2019, but the biggest movie trend of 2020 isn't 3D or VR or some sort of new superhero franchise — it’s that classic 1950s makeout spot, the drive-in theater. An incredibly efficient (and fun) way to socially distance while catching a movie on the big screen, the drive-in theater experience is back in a big way this year, with locations popping up in cities all across the country, from the [Mission Tiki Drive-In Theatre]() in Southern California to the [Yarmouth Drive-In]( in Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
