Gold, after initially appearing to hold its own against a backdrop of a bloodbath in financial markets, caved to the pressure and posted lower numbers towards the end of the week. Markets waited with bated breath in the first half of the week as all eyes were on the September CPI Report, which would determine the vitality of inflation and help predict if the FED will continue on its aggressive monetary tightening path. Most financial equity markets shifted into despair mode (all but the mighty Dollar, that is) for the rest of the week on the backs of the CPI Reportâs stronger-than-expected inflation numbers for September, renewing worries that the FED will continue raising rates until everyone feels the pain.
