Did you know that button copy where you make a final ask or offer your prospects to take the next step down your sales funnel comes in two flavors? True story: - Call to action (CTA), which focuses on the action a prospect is going to take by clicking ("Join now", "Contact us", etc.) - Call to value (CTV), which focuses on the real-world value of that action ("Start losing weight now", "Kick off your freelance business today", etc.) Or, "what" you're asking them to do vs "why" they should do it. You may think: Cool. CTV sounds more benefit-y. Should I always use it from now on? Yes. No. Maybe. Let's answer a fundamental question first: ❓ When is copy most effective? ✔️ When your wording matches the words in your prospect's head. So, if you suspect the majority of your audience thinking: - "I want to order/register/download" (which indicates a warmer audience that is ready to buy), CTA may be better. - "I really want to start losing weight now/kick off my freelance business, but..." (which indicates someone who's still on the fence), CTV may be better. But to be 100% sure, A/B test it (if you can). Food for thought 🤔 Look at the button copy on your sales pages. How can you rephrase it to change its type from CTA to CTV (or from CTV to CTA)? Not that you have to. But it's worth giving it a thought to see if this little change can make your prospects more excited about your offer. That's it. That's the tip for the week. Spending more time proofreading my emails would mean I'll have to share fewer tips with you. And sharing more and better tips is more important to me than sharing tips that are grammatically perfect. I hope that's fine with you, too.
