While the ATF took an important step last year to stem the flow of untraceable ghost guns, gaps exist within the current rule, which allowed ghost gun companies to continue to sell parts to make highly dangerous ghost guns, such as AR-15s. This is a major threat to public safety, and so GIFFORDS Law Center filed a lawsuit to address these lethal loopholes. Earlier this week, a California court ruled in our favor, stating that ATF must treat AR ghost gun parts as firearms. Our win in this case is a huge step forward for the gun safety movement. Ghost guns—and all of their parts—are a major threat to public safety. When ghost guns are built at home from parts purchased online, it becomes far too easy for untraceable firearms to end up in the wrong hands.
