As Mark and I were enjoying our breakfast this morning, I couldnât help but find my thoughts drifting to all of you and the movement that weâve built together to fight for a future free from gun violence. I feel so much hope when I think about the progress we have made over the past eleven years, and I hope you do too. Hundreds of thousands of people have stepped up and contributed to GIFFORDS since our founding. And each contribution, no matter how big or small, has made a huge impact on our movement. But {NAME}, we still face stiff headwinds. Gun violence is currently the number one cause of death for children in our country. Just days ago, we watched in horror as yet another mass shooting altered the community of Kansas City forever. It doesnât have to be this way. We must keep moving forward in our work to keep our communities safe. {NAME}, thatâs why Iâm reaching out to you today. This coming Thursday marks the end of February, which means we donât have much time left to reach our February fundraising goals. My team has been keeping me updated on the status of our fundraising this month, and Iâm worried that we might not get to where we need to be for the month. Our fundraising goals are not arbitrary. They are real goals we set so that we have what it takes to elect gun safety champions, pass legislation at all levels of government, and take on the gun lobby.
