Americans should not have to live in fear when running errands

But tragically, that’s what happened at a shopping mall in Allen, TX yesterday and another community is waking up this morning to mourn the loss of too many of their loved ones. This should not be a typical Saturday in America. Yet this is a situation we have seen unfold time and time again. Eight people senselessly lost their lives in Texas because our leaders refuse to act. In just a few weeks we will mark one year since the horrific mass shooting in Uvalde, and Texas leaders have failed to do anything to make their state safer. Instead, they’ve weakened state gun laws and given gun lobbyists everything they want. There are real, lifesaving solutions to end America’s gun violence crisis, but our elected officials must choose to have the courage to act. Nobody should have to live their life in fear of getting shot while running routine errands like going to the mall. I will not rest until we see a future where we can go about our daily lives without the fear of gunfire in our communities. My heart is with the victims, survivors, and the people of Texas.
