Stabilizing braces when used with semi-automatic pistols are extremely dangerous because they essentially enable shooters to use the brace as a shoulder stock, creating a short-barrelled rifle. This means shooters can use the braces to create a firearm that is more accurate when firing multiple rounds, as well as more concealable and maneuverable when perpetrating a mass shooting. These weapons pose grave risks to the public and law enforcement. Instead of working to pass commonsense legislation to save lives in the wake of recent deadly mass shootings, extreme Republicans are trying to overturn an ATF rule that rightfully classifies pistols with stabilizing braces as short-barreled rifles.
