Today, a community is reeling

After Parkland we said never again. After Uvalde we said never again. But yesterday, the Covenant School in Nashville became the most recent school to experience a deadly mass shooting. Now, a community is reeling after three students and three staff members were senselessly killed. When will enough be enough? Three nine-year-old children died yesterday. That’s three kids who didn’t get a chance to have their first double-digit birthday. It’s three families who will forever be changed, who now must grieve the loss of their child. It’s three empty chairs at the dinner table. This is a moral failure, but our leaders have the power to fix it. We cannot rest until there’s a future free from gun violence in our nation—a future where our kids are truly safe. Congress can and must do more to keep our communities safe, and we will keep demanding that they have the courage to act.
