My thoughts are with the Monterey Park community

I grieve for the victims of this horrific act of violence. The ten people who died were friends, loved ones, and neighbors. Beloved members of the Monterey Park community whose lives were stolen too soon. I grieve for the survivors of this massacre who will now have to live with the trauma of being targeted in a mass shooting event. I grieve for the entire Monterey Park community who has lost so much. At a time where people should have been able to safely gather to celebrate Lunar New Year’s Eve, the night instead ended in bloodshed. This is a reality we’re all too familiar with in America. We have seen these tragedies play out time and time again. We are only twenty-two days into January, and this tragedy at Monterey Park is the 33rd mass shooting we’ve seen this year. I am devastated. I am angered. And I will not rest until we hold our elected officials accountable to take real action to prevent these acts of violence in the future.
