A gunman killed twenty children and six teachers. It was a time of mourning for our nation as we remembered the victims whose lives were stolen from them. But it was also the day that the national conversation about gun violence shifted. People like you were ready to turn their anger into action. As a nation, we knew that we had to step up and do something to work towards a future where mass shootings no longer happen. January 8, 2013 This was the day that Gabby Giffords founded Americans for Responsible Solutions, the organization now known as Giffords. After the Sandy Hook tragedy, Gabby founded Giffords with a mission to bring together a coalition of people from all over the country—parents, activists, gun owners, and more—who were sick and tired of seeing too many people dying from preventable acts of gun violence. January 8, 2023 That’s two days from now, and marks the ten year anniversary since Giffords was founded.
