Legislation such as the Disarm Hate Act would ensure individuals convicted of a misdemeanor hate crime are prohibited from receiving or possessing a firearm. But we need Congress to have the courage to act. Nobody should feel afraid based on who they are, the color of their skin, where they come from, who they love, or their faith.
