A huge victory for Sandy Hook parents against the gun industry. Now we must join them in the fight.

It is hard to overstate the importance of this victory. It is hard to overstate the importance of this victory. Since 2005, most believed the gun industry was immune from lawsuits where there has been “criminal or unlawful use” of a firearm or ammunition. This victory in court is a huge milestone—but is the exception to the rule, and we must do more. Imagine the courage of these families. Imagine losing your child, then pressing on to push for background checks, losing that fight months later and deciding to continue to seek justice—for years—in what everyone said was an uphill struggle at best. Now Congress must finish the job. Congress must repeal the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA) that has shielded them for 17 years.
