You should feel proud of the work you?ve done to get to this point. Every dollar you?ve donated,

[Giffords] {NAME}, Today is a historic day for our organization and the entire gun safety movement. Universal background checks legislation was just re-introduced in the House and Senate. Rarely do we get second chances in life, but today we’ve been granted a singular opportunity to try again to pass universal background checks. If you remember, this bill passed the House on February 27, 2019 but then it sat on Mitch McConnell’s desk for months and never received a debate or a vote in the Senate. It sat on Mitch McConnell’s desk after the hateful attack at Walmart in El Paso, after the rampage at the Gilroy Garlic Festival in California, after the mass shooting at a municipal building in Virginia Beach—and after countless shootings that don’t make the headlines but still tear communities apart. These tragedies were not enough to move Mitch McConnell to act, but he doesn’t call the shots anymore. We now have gun safety majorities in the House and Senate with a mandate to pass lifesaving legislation. Now that universal background checks has just been re-introduced in the House and Senate it’ll soon be on its way to the floor of the House for a vote. We need you to add your voice and let your representatives know that we must pass background checks now. [Please sign our petition and tell your member of Congress: pass universal background checks — legislation that will save lives.](3D/?g=eyJaUXy8bT5fvLfvHwWkhw) [SIGN THE PETITION](3D/?g=eyJaUXy8bT5fvLfvHwWkhw) You should feel proud of the work you’ve done to get to this point. Every dollar you’ve donated, every petition you’ve signed, and every representative you’ve called has made this moment possible. I’m so grateful for your activism and commitment, which elected a Congress that will stand up to Mitch McConnell and the gun lobby. If we do our part right now, we can seize this opportunity to achieve real, meaningful reform. 90 percent of Americans are with us. Over the coming weeks, we will do everything in our power to demand action, convince undecided lawmakers, and demonstrate that those who side with the gun lobby remain on the wrong side of history. This moment has been a long time coming. We need your support to get the job done. Please add your name today to urge the House and Senate to vote for this lifesaving legislation. This is important. My very best, Gabby [SIGN THE PETITION](3D/?g=eyJaUXy8bT5fvLfvHwWkhw) --------------------------------------------------------------- This email was sent to {EMAIL}.
