I am proud to call Governor Walz a friend. We met back in 2007 when we were both in the same freshman class of the US House of Representatives. I saw his leadership in action back then, and have watched it grow in the years since. Last year, I was proud to stand by Governor Walz’s side in Minnesota when he signed key gun violence prevention bills into law. The legislation closed dangerous loopholes in background checks and implemented extreme risk protection orders to temporarily prevent individuals who are at high risk of harming themselves or others from having access to firearms.
