With less than 100 days until Election Day, these conversations are bound to become even more frequent. Instead of squirming in your chair when your relative brings up guns or voting for Trump, you should feel empowered to say something. After all, you have the ability to be a persuasive messenger to the people you care about. If it comes up in conversation, you can say with confidence that another four years of Donald Trump would be a major setback to our movement for gun safety. Here are some of the facts: - Violent crime has decreased by 15 percent under President Biden’s leadership, according to recent FBI data. During Trump’s time as president, gun homicides spiked by 34 percent. - Nearly 44,000 people die from gun violence every year in the U.S. and gun violence is the number one cause of death for children in our country. Yet at an NRA event earlier this year, Trump bragged that his administration “did nothing” on guns. - Assault weapons were used in seven of the deadliest mass shootings between the years of 2010 to 2020. Meanwhile, extreme members of the House and Senate won’t allow an assault weapons ban to come to the floor for a vote. - About 90% of Americans support background checks for all gun sales. Background checks are commonsense, and help keep guns out of the hands of people with the intent to harm others. - Biden is the most pro-gun safety president we've ever had. He signed the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act into law—the most significant federal gun safety legislation passed in nearly 30 years. Among many historic actions, this legislation expanded background checks and provided schools and communities with funding for mental health resources and community violence intervention programs. {NAME}, don’t be afraid to use your voice. This November’s elections are the most important ones of our lifetimes. Help the people you care about stay informed about the American gun violence crisis, and let them know that the only presidential candidate who will keep our communities safe from gun violence is Vice President Kamala Harris. - The team at GIFFORDS --------------------------------------------------------------- 👋 Hey {NAME}, before you go... If everyone reading this donated just $20, we'd have the resources to take on the gun lobby and elect gun safety champions up and down the ballot this November. But not everyone gives -- that makes it even more important for people who care and understand the stakes of our struggle to chip in what they can. If $20 seems worth it to you to change our gun laws in order to make our communities safer from gun violence, we're asking you to [contribute to GIFFORDS PAC today.]( If you've stored your info with ActBlue, we'll process your contribution instantly: [CONTRIBUTE $20]( [CONTRIBUTE MORE]( Paid For By Giffords PAC; not authorized by any candidate or candidate's committee. www.Giffords.org This email was sent to [{EMAIL}](#).
