[BREAKING] The Supreme Court just struck down the federal ban on bump stocks

This morning, the Supreme Court struck down ATF’s bump stock ban. This rule was enacted in 2017 after a mass shooter—who was armed with AR-15s accessorized with bump stocks—opened fire at the Route 91 Harvest music festival in Las Vegas. Within minutes, over 1,000 rounds were fired, killing 60 people and injuring over 400 others. Bump stocks turn semi-automatic weapons into fully automatic machine guns, {NAME}. They should be illegal. Yet the Supreme Court’s decision stated that a firearm equipped with a bump stock does not meet the definition of a machine gun under federal law. The court’s decision is reckless and dangerous. Justice Sonia Sotomayor said it best in her dissent: "When I see a bird that walks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, I call that bird a duck." Congress must take immediate action to reinstate a ban on bump stocks. Lives are at risk.
