Even if candidates supported our gun safety movement, they were told they couldn’t bring it up out of fear of retaliation from the gun lobby. But today, our movement has changed hearts, minds, and the political playbook. Many candidates run with gun safety as one of their key policy priorities—and they win. In 2022, over 84% of our endorsed candidates won their elections. There’s no doubt we’ve made tremendous progress, but the toll of our gun violence crisis is still way too high. Every day too many lives are taken by gun violence because there are still too many politicians in the pocket of the gun lobby who refuse to take action.
