But I wanted to reach out to you personally because as I began my day this morning, I found myself thinking about my recovery journey and the GIFFORDS community. Thirteen years ago, I was shot in the head while meeting with constituents in Tucson, Arizona. I’ve been in recovery every single day since. I often think about my recovery the same way I think about our movement to end gun violence: some days are more difficult than others. It hasn’t been an easy journey for me, but even on my darkest days, I’ve refused to give up hope. Today, I encourage you to take a moment to renew your hope that we can and will have a future someday where everyone is safer from gun violence. This work is challenging, {NAME}.
