It’s not about luck ☘️

When it comes to our movement for gun safety, the progress we’ve made has nothing to do with luck. But {NAME}, when it comes to our movement for gun safety, the progress we’ve made has nothing to do with luck. It’s only because of all of the hard work we’ve put in together over the past eleven years since GIFFORDS’ founding. It’s not luck that since 2013, we’ve helped pass over 620 gun safety laws in states nationwide. It’s not luck that right now, the NRA is the weakest it has ever been, and that its disgraced former CEO Wayne LaPierre was found liable for corruption last month. It’s not luck that in 2022, President Biden was able to sign the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act into law—the most significant gun safety legislation in nearly 30 years. These are victories that have come from years and years of researching and campaigning to cut through the partisan divide and make gun safety a WINNING issue. And we couldn’t do this work without the support of people like you. But {NAME}, at the same time, it’s not bad luck that America leads the world in gun violence. For too long, a minority of lawmakers beholden to the gun lobby have blocked commonsense reforms. We’re turning the tide, but our fight is far from over. Every day in our nation, people are still dying from gun violence. We know the solutions to save lives—like enacting universal background checks—but we need to keep up our fight to get our elected officials to take action. [So please, we don’t need luck today.
