Back in the day, I would go on tour for months at a time (definitely couldn't jive with that kind of pace now, but hey, it worked for me back then!) Every city, every tour, every gig was different. But the one thing that never really changed was how each day of the week felt. I mean, Monday always kinda felt like Monday, no matter if I was in Detroit or Denver. But as I've gotten older and done a lot more international travel with Shelby (we just got back from a trip to Italy a few weeks ago), I've realized that weekdays feel a lot different overseas than they do here in the US. Here, Tuesday just sort of means... well, Tuesday. Nothing that special about it. But did you know in Italy, Tuesday, or "Martedì", is associated with the Roman god of war, Mars? Here too, actually... Not sure if you know but Tuesday is named after "Tyr", the old Norse God of war... Kind like a Norse "Mars" if you think about it... (And yes, I absolutely googled that, 'cause I was curious... What am I, Indiana Jones?) Anyway, back to Italy: Over there, Tuesdayâs considered to be a day of passion and ambition. Imagine, associating a weekday with a god of war! No wonder their espressos are so strong. In Spain, "Martes" (also Tuesday) is considered the unluckiest day (specifically when it falls on the 13th. It's kinda like Friday the 13th for us...) Guess they didnât get the memo from Italy. They even have a saying: âOn Tuesdays, donât get married, donât take a trip, and donât leave your home." I guess I'd have been in real trouble if I'd planned my trip to Madrid on a Tuesday! Jump over to Japan, and the word for Tuesday is ç«ææ¥ (kayÅbi), meaning "Fire Day". And some cultures in the Middle East actually have Tuesday as their Monday - the first working day of the week. (Wouldn't THAT be nice?) And finally, here at Tommy Chong's CBD, we're making Tuesday the star this week just to hook you up with sale! Because why not, right! So, if you've been waiting, now's your chance.
